A lovely morning sail in good company. I used to work with John in the RAF (he was a flight engineer on the VC10 while I was a pilot). He runs the Bowmoor Cruising group - a collection of like-minded larger-than-dinghy sailors and it's a rapidly expanding group such that the 'big boats' parking area is now full.
An on-shore breeze made launching a bit of a challenge to work out, but we managed without bump or scratch to either person or boat. We then motored out safely away from the shore before setting sail on an anti-clockwise route around all the racing buoys. The previous record of 42 minutes 42 seconds has been smashed, mostly thanks to there being some wind today! I can't say how big the smashing was yet as I failed to bring a watch to time proceedings, but we did 3 laps and plenty of faffing in 1 hour 46 minutes. A great sail.
As I said last time, ahem, mainsail next time!
