Cockpit table

On a recent overnight stay aboard Valentine we discovered the need for a table in the cockpit.  Few flat surfaces otherwise to keep wine from spilling.  Searches on the various forums had drawn a blank when we happened upon what looked like a good solution at Ikea.  It even perfectly matched the cockpit decking.  A bargain at £20!

Looks good, but...

...it doesn't quite fit on the cockpit floor when folded.  Plus it's a bit on the high side, even for me at 6'1".  Time for some modification!  Measurement of our trusty 20+ year old plastic folding camp table gave the ideal seat to table height of 25 cms or so.  The cockpit seat to table top pre-modification was 35 cms.  I also noticed that the angle of the foot end of the legs wasn't quite right; each leg had a gap of a mm or so on the inside, so I measured 10 cms up from a nice flat piece of plywood, drew a line across and cut the ends off with a fine-toothed jigsaw blade.

Job done!

Stowage options:  on the cockpit floor...

...or on a lazarette cover.
